Town of New London
New London offers a variety of unique retail shops, fine dining, lodging, and entertainment! Visitors will find plenty of activity in New London. Summer brings band concerts to the common, popular musicals to the Barn Playhouse, festivals, fairs, and parades. Winter activities include skiing at nearby Mount Sunapee, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.
The Town Common is surrounded by the classic New London Inn, the tree-lined campus of Colby-Sawyer College and the Old Colby Academy Building (now home to the Town Offices).
In the summer the Mary D. Haddad Memorial Bandstand hosts a summer concert series. The Common (town green) creates a lovely place to sit and relax.
Main Street
Main Street takes you back to the charm of yesterday with small shops, casual eateries, a farm stand, attractive homes and interesting historic buildings. All accessible by foot, bicycle or car, with a municipal parking lot available to all patrons.
Bob Andrews Memorial Skating RinkThe Bob Andrews Memorial Ice Rink sits between the New London Town Offices and the historic New London Inn. In memory of the Town's late recreation director, Bob Andrews, the Town's Recreation Department now maintains the seasonal attraction. New in 2006 the warming hut built as an Eagle Scout project from Boy Scout Troop 71, New London creates a warm atmosphere to take a moment to rest or to put your skates on.
Pleasant Lake
Pleasant Lake hosts a public beach with permit parking for New London residents and guests. During the summer the lake is filled with children in swimming lessons while kayakers, boaters and canoeists enjoy the beautiful scenery and the chance to see the loons on Blueberry Island. If you plan on visiting any of our town beaches a parking permit will be required.
The Community Garden at Tracy Memorial Library
The Olmsted Brothers, the renowned landscape architectural firm, designed a community garden at Tracy Memorial Library in New London in 1926. It was restored with widespread financial support in 2002. Jane Tracy’s vision of a garden that would be enjoyed by the community lives on with the help of generous donors and hard working volunteers. We invite you to visit often, experiencing the garden’s relaxing beauty, and encourage you to become involved, learning with us as we garden together. The garden is accessible using the library’s elevator & thru the Children’s Room Patio Door. Click HERE to learn more about the history of the garden!
