Each group plays an integral part in guiding town decisions and enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives here.
Town Committees & Boards

Archives Committee
Preserves the town’s historical records, photographs, and documents so future
generations can understand and appreciate the community’s heritage. Time
commitment: Working in the archives office one day a week, as available.
Biking & Pedestrian Advisory Committee
Promotes safe, accessible routes for walkers and cyclists, improving public
health and mobility. Time commitment: One meeting a month, with potential
committee work throughout the month.
Board of Firewards
Supports the fire department, helping ensure residents receive effective
emergency response and fire safety services. Time commitment: One meeting a
month, with potential committee work throughout the month.
Board of Selectmen
*An elected position* Acts as the town’s executive leadership, making policy
decisions, managing municipal operations, and ensuring local government serves
community needs. Time commitment: Meets
twice to three times a month with committee work throughout the month. Must be available to maintain regular
communication and work with the Town Administrator and citizens.
Budget Committee
*An elected position* Reviews and recommends the annual town budget, helping
maintain financial responsibility and ensure taxpayer dollars are used wisely.
Time commitment: One meeting a month during and around budget season, usually
August through April. Requires regular committee work throughout the season,
along with training.
Citizens Committee
Provides residents a structured way to learn about local issues and projects,
increasing transparency and strengthening community engagement. Time commitment: One Saturday a month,
meeting at 7:30 AM.
Conservation Commission
Protects natural resources, manages conservation lands, and promotes
environmental stewardship to maintain the town’s beauty and ecological health.
Time commitment: One meeting a month, with potential committee work throughout
the month.
Elections (no committee link)
Supports free and fair elections by assisting voters throughout the voting process - greeting, checking in, counting ballots, and monitoring elections.
Emergency Management Committee
Plans and coordinates responses to emergencies and disasters to keep residents
safe and ensure the town is prepared for unexpected events. Time commitment:
One meeting a month, with potential committee work throughout the month.
Energy Committee
Identifies ways to reduce energy use and costs, encourages sustainability
initiatives, and supports environmentally friendly practices that benefit the
whole community. Time commitment: One meeting a month, with potential committee
work throughout the month.
Planning Board
Guides land use and development to promote careful growth and preserve
community character. Time commitment: One meeting a month, with potential
committee work or additional work sessions throughout the month, depending on
the time of year.
Recreation Commission
Provides recreation programs, events, and facilities that promote healthy
living and community connection. Time commitment: One meeting a month, with
potential committee work throughout the month, along with supporting events
throughout the year.
Zoning Board of Adjustment
Reviews requests for zoning variances and special exceptions, ensuring fair
application of local regulations while supporting reasonable property use. Time
commitment: One meeting a month, as needed, depending on applications
submitted.
