Remote Participation at Town Meetings

The New London Board of Selectmen has voted to not allow remote participation at Town committee, commission, and board meetings, including participation by committee members and members of the public.

Town meetings will continue to be conducted in person. While Whipple Memorial Town Hall has the capability to accommodate remote participation, doing so requires Town staff to be present at each meeting, and ongoing technical support. The Town currently has limited video-conferencing resources, making consistent remote access difficult to administer.

This decision applies to both remote attendance by elected and appointed members and remote attendance by the public. A quorum must continue to be physically present in the meeting room, as required by applicable law.

If there is a change at the state or national level that affects remote participation requirements or opportunities, the Board of Selectmen will revisit this policy.
